چکیده
This work concerns development of alternative antifouling paints for marine applications using composite metal oxides derived from TiO2 and WO3. Composite with a variety tungsten content were prepared via sol–gel process titanium isopropoxide sodium tungstate dihydrate as the precursors. The crystalline phase, bandgap energy, morphology, surface structure, electronic states synthesized products then characterized confirmed by XPS, XRD, UV/Vis spectroscopy, SEM-EDX, TEM techniques. Photocatalytic performance polymer film loaded containing 10% mole WO3 (10%WO3@TiO2) was both under UV irradiation in dark. results are discussed light oxygen vacancies presence heterojunctions between domains composites, which eventually lead to suppression charges recombination. Finally, antimicrobial efficacy oxide particles evaluated static immersion conditions Zobell Marine agar. After 30 days, percentage fouling coverage (16.35%), colonies number (CFU value 12 × 103), reduction (92.94%), obtained, significantly outperformed those control (the bare substrate).

Modern approaches to marine antifouling coatings
Marine structures such as platforms, jetties and ship hulls are subject to diverse and severe biofouling. Methods for inhibiting both organic and inorganic growth on wetted substrates are varied but most antifouling systems take the form of protective coatings. Biofouling can negatively affect the hydrodynamics of a hull by increasing the required propulsive power and the fuel consumption. This...

متن کاملAntifouling Compounds from Marine Macroalgae
Marine macroalgae produce a wide variety of biologically-active metabolites that have been developed into commercial products, such as antibiotics, immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic agents, and cosmetic products. Many marine algae remain clean over longer periods of time, suggesting their strong antifouling potential. Isolation of biogenic compounds and the determination of their ...

Optoelectronic tweezers enables parallel manipulation of individual single cells using optical addressing and optically induced dielectrophoretic force. This provides a useful platform for performing a variety of biological functions, such as cell manipulation, cell sorting, and cell electroporation. However, in order to obtain more reliable cellular manipulation, especially of adherent mammali...

Since the prohibition of tributyltin (TBT)-based antifouling paints in 2008, the development of environmentally compatible and commercially realizable alternatives is a crucial issue. Cost effective fabrication of antifouling paints with desired physical and biocompatible features is simultaneously required and recent developments in the direction of inorganic nanomaterials could play a major r...
